So apparently I had a moment of insanity because I can't believe what I did. As most of you know my sister is the one who cuts our hair.......well she moved back to California. While she was here she kept telling me "you could cut your kids hair it is not that hard." Well guess what it is, at least for me! So I was looking at Kennedy's hair yesterday noticing how wispy the bottom of her hair was. I thought I would just cut off 1/16th of an inch. Well with me and the obviously incapable hair cutting person that I am kept trying to even it out. Just when I thought I was finished I noticed that one side was a little longer than the other, so in my stupidity I kept cutting. The final product was not pretty, I finally forced myself to stop. I can't even bring myself to post a picture. It looks like I gave scissors to a twelve year old and told her to have at it. The front is a good 1/2 to 1 inch shorter than the back, it is just past her chin. The only way it doesn't look too bad is if she wears it half up. After all that it dawned on me I would be in California in two weeks where my sister could have cut it to begin with. Now instead of doing the original cut she will fix the butcher job I did. She will probably end up with a bob. I'm blaming this on being pregnant.

Halloween Time
I have no idea why but my pics don't match the words once I post it.
This was Gavin's preschool parade it was so cute!! I know I am a little biased but he really was the cutest spiderman there.
We really haven't been up to anything exciting. Shane has been working non stop! It hopefully won't last, we just recently overtook another internet company and changed to a larger office space, where they did the framing, flooring etc. so it has been crazy, Shane and his partner David are do it your self people so they rarely hire out for anything, it saves money but I lose my husband for awhile. He was able to take off a few days before Halloween so we could get some good family time.
We went to the Aquatic Center which we actually go to alot but this time we have pics. Kennedy LOVES this water slide she kept climbing out of the water and heading for the stairs to go again. We were the only people in the family area so Gavin finally got to tackle the lily pods which he has wanted to do for a long time.
Kennedy is almost two yet I still keep her in the high chair.... can you see why?
We went to the farm to get our pumpkin ( I think everyone goes there) Shane's parents came down for the weekend which made for alot of fun. I feel bad we don't have a single pic of them.
Here is Daddy and Gavin playing horsey I remember having one of these.
Kennedy was a little cranky that day due to not getting a nap but the animals would make her so happy, she would wave to all the cows as we passed by.
For Kennedy I had her color her pumpkin, so she could participate a bit more. She had fun coloring on the pumpkin and everything else. Gavin loved helping to carve his pumpkin.
So Shane was wolverine for Halloween and he definitely has the hair to pull it off. I can't turn this pic.
So we went to the park for the city trunk or treat and it was over. Mom obviously got the wrong time. It had started a 4:00, am I the only one that thinks that that is ridiculously early. Since that was a bust we headed to the mall which turned out to be really cool and a lot of fun. Gavin loved every minute of it. Kennedy enjoyed eating her candy but could care less about everything else, she was really tired. By the way she was an adorable fairy but you cant see it very well with her in the stroller. I was a cat again, I needed to wear something a little more flowy for my prego belly.
Sorry it has taken forever to post but there really hasn't been much to post about.

End of the Summer Bash!
We thought it would be fun to actually get everyone together to hang out before the summer is completely gone.
-It will be Sep. 12th (It is the only next weekend that we weren't busy and we thought no one else would be either)
-at 5:00 p.m
-Potluck (we thought this would be easiest so no one is stuck at the grill the whole time)
Shelley is bringing her big inflatable water slide so bring the swim suits. This will be super casual, I just want everyone to come and have fun.

Wow I've changed!
Anyone that knows me from high school knows that my outdoor activities consisted of Disneyland and In n out. If someone told me I would be doing this sort of thing I would have told them they were crazy. Well all I can say is I am glad I married Shane and he opened up my world to the outdoors. I am not going to lie I am a baby and even a scaredy cat but for some reason I still love and enjoy it.
So this is Echo canyon, it is in Zion. You have to hike up switchbacks that seem like they will never end, then you finally make it to the canyon.
So most of our rappels went into the grossest ice cold water imaginable.Thank goodness there were guys!! There were some areas that were too short to rappel but a little too long for us girls to make it down with out us getting hurt.
This is me before I smash into the wall. It was this weird slot that you had to straddle, well I straddled it too long so when I tried to move to one side of the slot I lost my footing and went flying into the wall. It really hurt but I don't think I noticed a ton because I was laughing to hard at what an idiot I was.
This is everyone that went with us L to R Shane's sister Karla, her boyfriend Adam, Shane, Shane's brother Anthony, and his wife brittany. It was fun we all squished into one hotel room and spent three days hiking Zion.
What were we thinking???? So one of our days in Zion we decided to hike the subway and the trail description said you would take a dirt trail down into the canyon and to use extreme caution. Well we took what we thought was the trail...... NO it wasn't!! Look closely at the canyon we headed down into. We were sitting on boulders and ledges and thought this cannot be it, this is alittle to extreme. We made it about 25 feet down past this picture and Shane saw rappel clips, we definitely realized this was the wrong way. IT was about that time I had to go to the bathroom and it couldn't wait. So there I was on this scary ledge going with everyone else just a few feet away on their boulders or ledges. Finally after realizing it was the wrong way we turned around and I was shaking the whole way up from fright. That was definitely the scariest thing I have ever done. I can see why you need permits for this sort of thing.
Once we made it down it was all worth it! It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
I wish we brought our wetsuits for the subway, there was some really cold swims, one was 40 ft long. I was so cold I couldn't swim I did a spazzy dog paddle thing. Karla said I looked like a wet mouse.
The last day we were there we did the tubing down the Virgin river, I wasn't expecting much but we had a blast I really want to go again.

Summer
It is really hard for me to blog during the summer. I get so busy and feel like there is too much stuff to blog about so I just don't. I decided I would update on all the stuff I can remember right now and forget about blogging the rest. Of course my pics are all out of order but I am too lazy to do anything about it. We all went to Yellowstone with Shane's family and we had a great time. This is Kennedy hiking around. She kept pulling out her hair.
This was right outside the cabin we stayed at. It was just beautiful. The kids had fun picking all the flowers. It reminded me of twilight up there. It was so dense with trees and then there would be a large meadow of wild flowers.
This is us seeing some of the geysers. Kennedy was great about staying in the stroller. There were some that we decided to let her get out and stretch her legs and it was very stressful. There are these board walks with no railing in some palces and boiling water just off to the side of it. Kennedy is very independent so she does not like help at all. So there were alot of power struggles between us. Kennedy is very easy and sweet but man she really likes to do things herself.
Gavin has a very difficult time smiling on command, he cracks me up.
Gavin was such a trooper. He walked pretty much the entire time and loved everything.
This is Shane and Gavin in front of Old Faithful. Gavin thought it was so exciting. He kept telling me in his loud excited voice " AND THE WATER SHOOTS UP TO THE SKY, WHOA!!"
That's Shane's brother on the far left, his wife next to him, and Shane's sister in the middle.
This is a great hike in Zion that we loved. We would love if other people would join us on these excursions hint hint. Anyways it is a 1/4 of a mile in, you definitely need a guy there to help. It is really shallow and the kids are allowed to play in the water. It has a really nice sandy beach to lay out on.
We took Gavin fishing for the first time and he loved it until we pulled the fish out of the water, then he kind of freaked out. I think he wasn't expecting the fish to be so spazzy. So he just kept catching fish reeling them in and passed it on to us. He really enjoyed it.
My friends and I decided to do a midnight 5 k and I am so glad we did, it was so much fun. They had glow sticks to light the way. They gave us glow in the dark hair gel and t-shirts., there was also a DJ with music playing. It was a really fun atmospere. I got my best time at 8 min 51 sec miles.
We went to California for memorial day weekend. It was alot of fun. We went to Laguna beach one day with my family (so pretty). Gavin made himself a big hole and got very upset with the ocean everytime it decided to come in. I was even surprised how much Kennedy liked it.

Lasagna
This is not as rich as your regular lasagna, but it is a lot healthier and still plenty yummy.
1 lb lean ground turkey
2 1/2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese divided
1 c grated parmesan cheese divided (get the bag in the refrigerated section)
1 (15 oz) container fat free cottage cheese
1/4 c. chopped fresh parsley
2 egg whites beaten
1 jar (26 oz) spaghetti sauce (remember no high fructose corn syrup, I like Prego the best, but Bertolli is very healthy. If you get Bertolli you may need to add extra seasonings.
1 c. water
12 whole wheat lasagna noodles uncooked
1 large handful spinach
1 small zucchini
Preheat oven to 350. Brown meat in large skillet on med- high heat. Puree zucchini and chop spinach, mix and set aside. Mix 1 1/4 c. mozzarella, cottage cheese, 1/2 parmesan, parsley, and egg whites until well blended; set aside.
Drain meat and return to skillet. Stir in spaghetti sauce. Add cup of water to empty sauce jar, cover with lid and shake. Spread one cup of the sauce onto the bottom of a 39 x 9 inch baking dish, top with 3 lasagna noodles, 1/3 cottage cheese mixture, 1/3 zucchini mixture, and 1 cup of sauce. Repeat layers twice. Top with remaining three noodles then the remaining sauce. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and parmesan. Cover with greased foil.
Bake 1 hour. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 min. Let stand 15 min.
